Honda Indy #Toronto 2012: Opens Friday July 6

@HondaIndy begins with Free Friday July 6 but the action has already started. The start/finish line has been repainted and is ready for the big weekend. On Thursday the drivers did the official track walk looking for any issues and to identify race lines that will be problematic or beneficial.

The race weekend goes from the 6th to the 8th, with the signature race on Sunday July 8 from 12:30pm to 3:00pm - the green flag drops at 1:00pm. There will be 25 drivers ready to drop the hammer on Sunday, which now includes a limited number of push-to-pass power boost opportunities during the
Canadian IZOD IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe came into the media centre for a quick interview. James stepped into the GO Daddy car after Danica Patrick moved to the NASCAR race series from the Firestone Indy Lights. James noted high amount of surface changes will pose a challenge as concrete and asphalt surfaces dot the course, although the Lakeshore "Thunder Alley" strip has now been repaved.

Later the Ferrari Challenge got some practice in during the sponsor rides. We caught up with former Dragon's Den, Ferrari racer and the 2012 Honda Indy Toronto Grand Marshal Robert Herjavec as he took his car up to speed around the street course in Exhibition Place. On race day he will be announcing "Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines." Besides competing in the Ferrari Challenge race he will also join supporters and fans at the Ferrari Fan Zone.
