It's hard to keep a good Toronto undead, dead. So with the slightest twitch of an infected, newly departed soul, the beginning of the end starts to rise from the grave, eager to seek the brains of the living and enjoy the shuffling, mindless wandering of a mob of muttering zombie friends.
When Toronto lost the annual Zombie Walk in 2015 the undead howled in frustration and put away their blood. The problem was not lack of interest, but the usual lack of money. Costs associated with the walk were substantial - police, blood cleanup, insurance are expensive and since they couldn't raise the necessary funds the walk had to stop. But the zombie fever ran deep and scattered groups of the undead have begun to start their own walks. You can organize a walk and post the information to the Toronto Zombie Walk site. Seven independent events are scheduled for Toronto in October including the St Clair West Zombie Walk and a veggie lovers Zombie Walk where they will stalk grains, you know, cultivated cereal crops. St Clair West had a great turnout and promise to be back for next year.
One of the events was the Undead Army's chariot pull at City Hall on Saturday, October 29 from 1 to 5pm. "Banding together for the love of zombies and Halloween, join us on our march for the Toronto Zombie Walk at Nathan Phillips Square. We have built a chariot to be pulled by the undead (who for safety reasons will be kept on chains). The more zombies the better as we will also be joined by a professional photographer. Dress however you'd like but leather and spikes are deeply encouraged ;)". I left City Hall by 2:30pm sad that I had only seen a few zombies and no sign of the chariot, so I hope that the brains of the living brought more of the undead out for a feast after I had left.
Still upcoming is the Church Street Zombie Walk on Halloween night Monday, October 31. The fiendiesh ghouls will gather for pre-walk drinks at Glad Day on Church from 6 to 8pm, then begin their walk at 8pm. Actually the Church Street Halloween block party is supposed to be Canada's best and I have to attend this event sometime in the near future, so the zombies are just an extra bonus for those that drop by. Here is the information on the free, fun and inclusive Church Street Zombie Walk.
"They say Halloween night is the one night of the year that the thin veil between the living and dead gets lifted and the dead walk the earth. Join this group of walking undead as we stumble up and down Church Street during Canada's largest outdoor Halloween party and devour the amazing costumes and many photographers to be found on the strip.
The evening starts with a meet-up at 6:00pm at the newly reopened Glad Day (499 Church Street) where our zombies can collect and enjoy a few drinks to help get our zombie stumble perfected while enjoy the view of the costumes and action on the street.
At 8:00pm we will release ourselves onto the street where people from all ages may join us and head south on Church street, turn left (east) on Carlton, left (north) on Mutual street, left (west) on Wood to rejoin Church street and head north through the crowds and end at Barbara Hall Park (beside the 519 community centre). See route map here: https://goo.gl/maps/ug551RQ5Ddz".
Maybe the massive Toronto Zombie Walk will itself return from the dead, until then Trick or Treat and have a nice Halloween.

Zombies promote Halloween Haunt
Zombies join a new bride and groom at City Hall, then they ate them
"Canada's Wonderland is transformed for 13 terrifying nights in October to Halloween Haunt. This year will be bigger, better, and more terrifying than ever with a brand new maze, Spirit Manor, and the return of a fan favourite, ZOMBIES 4D Interactive Dark Ride. Brave your way through 10 horrifying mazes, 2 scare zones, and 4 live shows, in addition to the 700 monsters prowling the Park."

Awww, Toronto Zombie Walk 2015 Cancelled
"Deadlings, It is with great sadness that we must announce that the 2015 Toronto Zombie Walk is cancelled. We want to thank you all for making this event the special event that it has grown to be. And we are sorry to say that we have failed to secure any of our grants or sponsorships for this year, so we must bow out."
Here is a copy of the upcoming walk of memorium "Dear Zombies,
You are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of The Toronto Zombie Walk at Trinity Bellwoods Park on the 29th day of August. Services start at 2pm.
Let us ask that this be a celebration of the afterlife and that The Toronto Zombie Walk will rest in pieces, as we remember the times that rampant hordes of flesheaters devoured the living of Toronto while the rivers of blood ran plentiful through the city streets. The carnage reaped upon the city shall never be forgotten and that is why we encourage you to bring photos, stories, and other ghoulish memories for our coffin. The burial of the coffin will be at an undisclosed location for a future unveiling.
Let us not see this as a somber occasion, but as a step in the process of resurrection, so let us celebrate and bring the FUN to our funeral. Please join us after our SCARYmony for a procession to the wake at the CNE. There zombies will be treated with thousands of carnival goers to feast upon. Let us not mourn, but enjoy the screams from the Scar-us wheel, Grave-a-tron and the bumper coffins. Enjoy the delicacies of Funnel brain, deep fried limbs, and rotten candy. We looks forward to celebrating with you.
The first 100 funeral attendees to leave a memory in our coffin will receive a free ticket for the exhibition that day. You must be dressed in undead attire to receive this deal!
Keep your eyeballs peeled as more details on exact park location are to be announced.
In loving Memory,
The Toronto Zombie Walk"

Zombiefestation
Shuffling down Yonge Street in #Toronto was a horrifying zombie horde. Then mixed in with theses regular commuters walking to work were the undead! I couldn't immediately tell which set were scarier, but then I noticed that some of the undead were clowns and ran screaming into the Eaton Centre.
When I stopped at Nathan Phillips Square I found some of the zombies and thought that they were promoting the upcoming Toronto Zombie Walk scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2014. Don't forget that the Zombie Walk is in need of additional funding. "The Toronto Zombie Walk and Halloween Parade is the largest free Halloween event in Toronto. The event is run by a small group of volunteers, who spend their whole year raising the dead and money to support this event and keep it free and inclusive. With it's continued growth costs have gone up exponentially. Despite continued fundraising activities, searches to find sponsors, and grant applications the Toronto Zombie Walk is still $7000 under budget and has only 6 weeks to raise the total funds for the event."
Asking a zombie what they were promoting I was told it was for the Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland.

Bloods'n'Suds 2014 tomorrow
The #Toronto Zombie Walk car wash brings the undead out to clean cars on Sunday, August 17 at the Classic Coin Car Wash on College Street. "They’re back, they’re hungry and they want to wash your car! Too many bodies in your trunk? Apocalyptic acid rain left your car dull and dingy? Grave dirt encrusted tires from too many cemetery excursions? Let our zombies help you out."
Blood will flow from noon to 6 pm and will help support the annual Toronto Zombie Walk which is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2014 starting in Nathan Phillips Square at City Hall.

October 26-27 weekend fun in #Toronto
The weekend is here, it just doesn't know it yet! Party with the Zombies on Saturday at Nathan Phillips Square. The Zombie Walk and Halloween Parade crowd will gather at noon and march at 3 pm. Darkness will bring the Night of Dread at Dufferin Grove Park with the parade leaving at 6 pm - the dress code is black & white and dreadful.
The zombies are spreading with the Zombie Run Toronto on October 27. The zombie infected will stagger 5k in an obstacle course run in Riverdale Park East.
The 2013 Toronto International Art Fair, or Art Toronto, starts today and goes the whole weekend. And for Boomers there is the Zoomer Show at the Direct Energy Centre in Exhibition Place.
You can also explore the Delicious Food Show, Fort York After Dark: Lantern Tours and the Toronto International Snowmobile ATV and Powersports Show. Ann and I will be going to see I Love Lucy on Sunday.

Hot time, Zombie in the city
During #Toronto Nuit Blanche I ran into a couple of zombies promoting the @TOZombieWalk and Halloween Parade happening October 26, 2013. The sched is as follows: Meet at noon at Nathan Phillips Square, Parade at 3 pm and Show at 5 pm. Now some people haven't heard of the Toronto Zombie Walk - which just amazes me as the zombies have been walking since 2003 always searching for juicy brains - here are photos from the 2012 walk. The costumes, the makeup and the enthusiasm of the walking dead is truly a spectacle to witness, do it before you die and come back and eat people and can't really appreciate it because you are dead.
"WHAT IS A ZOMBIE WALK & HALLOWEEN PARADE? Deadlings! We are pleased and proud and EXCITED to announce that this year for the first time ever we are adding a Halloween parade to our zombie walk!!!! A REAL Parade, ok maybe surreal! With marching bands, bike floats, a drum line and more!!! In honour of this metamorphosis, we are inviting ALL MONSTERS to come and walk, bike, crawl or lurch with the ZOMBIE HORDE! No matter if you’re a werewolf, a mummy, a vampire, a creature from the black lagoon, or a zombie (because come on, we all love to shuffle) you're all welcome to participate in Toronto’s first ever Zombie Walk & Halloween Parade!"

Watching some Zombie movies
So it is time for a scary #Toronto Zombie. Ohhh, brains. The movie I have on right now is Land of the Dead and I just noticed that they come into Fiddler's Green and they filmed some scenes in Brookfield Place!

Zombie Pierre Trudeau protests the Liberal Party
Six Federal Liberal candidates are pressing the flesh at the National Showcase event in #Toronto on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Surprisingly the mini-convention did not erupt in rabid fear with the presence of several of the undead led by Zombie Pierre Trudeau.
The new leader is set to be announced next week and will be chosen from the official candidates: Martin Cauchon, Deborah Coyne, Martha Hall Findlay, Karen McCrimmon, Joyce Murray and Justin Trudeau.
The Zombies tried to enter the Metro Toronto Convention Centre but were told to head back onto the streets.

Variety, the spice of life
I sit here with a pain in my knee waiting to go into #Toronto for all the wonderful events that are planned for today - the Bloor-Yorkville Holiday Magic (with singer Matt Dusk), the 100th Grey Cup Festival and the Cavalcade of Lights at City Hall. You can catch my coverage of these events a little later on today or tomorrow, until then here are a variety of shots for your viewing pleasure. One of my favourite places to go into is Brookfield Place on Bay Street - they almost always have something cool going on.
