Weekend fun in #Toronto Dec 9-11, 2011

Okay, it is the lead up to the winter wonderland season of Santa Claus, reindeer and lots of presents and you would think shopping is the only thing going on, but no, you would be wrong. There is so much fun stuff going on in Toronto this weekend you will need two weekends to fit it all in.

The Toronto Motorcycle Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre sets it's chopper sounds on full and throttles up Friday, December 9-11. Friday is 'She Rides Night' where ladies get in free after 5pm.  MMA UFC fighter Jake Shields and Brendan Schaub will be at the show signing autographs Sat from 1-3pm. Adults tickets are $16. Over 150 exhibitors will fill the hall including Yamaha, Harley-Davidson, BMW and YRA. See my photos of the event here.
Lowes Toronto Christmas Market continues in the Distillery District over the weekend.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 140 on Saturday, December 10 at the Air Canada Centre (ACC) "Jones vs. Machida to Headline UFC 140 in Toronto updated October 6Owners of the most unique styles in mixed martial arts today, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones and former titlist Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida will meet in the Octagon in the main event of December 10th’s UFC 140 card at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre." 2011 Runners in Speedo bathing suits
Saturday, December 10 features the awesomely chilly Toronto Santa Speedo Run. The Registration and pre-race begins at noon at 142 Cumberland St while the 3km (or less) race starts at 1:30pm. Party is at Heminway's if you survive. Wear a red, white or green speedo. See my photos of the event here.
Sunday, December 11 is the Hobbystar AnimeCon at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with tickets going for $10. The show runs from 11am to 5pm. Anime, costumes, cosplay, autograph sessions and games. A Star Trek dude walks with a giant Tribble, above. See my photos of the event here.

Sunday, December 11 is the Bazaar of the Bizarre Frostbite: Holiday Marketplace from noon to 8pm at 1087 Queen Street West. The 'extravaganza of unusual arts, crafts and wearable goods.' See my photos of the event here.
2011 Runners in Santa Claus suits
In Burlington the Santa Claus 5k Run Ho Ho Ho's it's way through the streets, starting on Pearl Street, then heading south to Lakeshore Road and then into town on Sunday, December 11 at 9am. Participation including the Santa suit costs $40 (registration ends on December 7th). See my photos of the event here.
