CHIN International Picnic 2012 starts in June

Waiting for summer to come to #Toronto is one of my favourite things to do in spring, especially after a snowfall. In summer we can look forward to the Honda Indy Toronto and the CHIN International Picnic events at Exhibition Place. On Canada Day (Sunday, July 1 in 2012) weekend the 46th annual edition of the world's largest free multicultural festival takes place from June 30 to July 2, from noon to 11pm each night.
Besides the CHIN bikini contest there will also be a Rising Star singing competition taking place for the first time this year, Shawn Desman will perform at the show. You can submit a video by May 15 of a singing performance (of an original song) to enter the contest - check out their website for more information.
"We encourage people to come out to the 46th Annual Scotiabank CHIN International Picnic to witness "the world in your backyard" and experience the culture, food and music," said Lenny Lombardi, President of CHIN Radio/TV International. "The Scotiabank CHIN International Picnic has grown from a small community get together, into the largest free music and cultural festival in the world, and truly characterizes the heart and soul of Toronto, reflecting our diverse cultural mosaic."
Attendees to the festival will be able to take in all the entertainment that promises to keep everyone amused, including World Beat Music, sporting events, dance competitions and activities for the young like the wild animal showcase, the Zero Gravity Circus shows, petting zoo and pony rides. Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, South Asian, Caribbean, Filipino, Polish and Latino Festivals will be held all weekend long.
