Queen's Park north is the focal point of the 18th annual march as citizens put on a peaceful protest calling for the legalization of the herb. Gathering starts at high noon on Saturday, May 7, 2016 and the parade begins at 2pm, or whenever they can get motivated enough to head out onto the streets. Taking place rain or shine, or even with with a haze of smoke.
The Global Marijuana March (GMM) takes place in over 100 cities around the world and is estimated to attract over 30,000 participants in Toronto. I checked out their sponsors page and they are all marijuana-centric companies - no main stream sponsors yet, even though Loblaws has stepped up and proposed that their pharmacies can sell the medicinal product. These photos are from previous marches.
Map of the proposed route
"The peaceful celebration has never had an arrest in the event’s 17 year history. The
GMM is the City’s largest spring outdoor gatherings generating millions of dollars to the local economy."
