Winter Magic Illuminite 2013

UK's Heliosphere featured a large helium filled balloon that rose high over Yonge-Dundas Square carrying a balletic aerialist in an energetic display of grace in an otherwise surreal night of entertainment in Toronto. Silver figures performed at various locations, faces covered in a tight web of fabric hidden under an alien looking hat, doing splits and rhythmic, fluid movements as a silver band played on the elevated platform, instruments filled with colourful lights.

"Now in its seventh year, Winter Magic continues to transform Downtown Yonge into a winter playground with dazzling holiday lighting installations, featuring Winter Magic banners and a series of unique signature events. This community-driven festival celebrates the best of the holiday season in a high energy, urban destination area, located in the heart of Toronto. Winter Magic signature events vary in theme, audience, location and include: Illuminite, Ice, Wine & Dine, Kidzfest,Buskertainment, and Window Wonderland."
DJs filled the square with blasts of high energy music as stilt walkers waded through the urban park, covered completely in silver patches of shiny metal. The event started at 6 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2013 and also had a tree lighting with the ball of Christmas trees going all white and blue.

Sadly there were no fire performers this year. See more Illuminite after the jump.
