Fashion from world leaders of design like Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Valentino, Moschino, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo and Gucci will be featured in the show as Italian Heritage Month is celebrated in Toronto's Yorkville Village. “Celebrating Italy - from science to food, from music to design and architecture - is a key component of our foreign policy," says Giuseppe Pastorelli, Consul General of Italy."We are thrilled to work with Yorkville Village to showcase Italian fashion, which is a perfect blend of creativity, craftsmanship and design.”
The collection was curated by Alessia Tota who drew one of a kind pieces from private and archival collections, exploring the history of Italian fashion from early 1950's Florence, Italy to current fashion trends. “It is a privilege to bring 60 Years of Made in Italy to Toronto and showcase more than 50 historical items and I wish to thank the Consulate General of Italy and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura for this opportunity,” says Alessia Tota, Exhibit Curator of 60 Years of Made in Italy. “The items that are on display come from various archival and private collections, making this exhibit truly one-of-a-kind.”
