mighty tiff.40

#tiff15 Canada's biggest celebrity smorgasbord rolls into town with the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. King Street from Spadina to University will be closed to host 'Festival Street' from Sept 10-14 while the festival itself will continue until the 20th. Superstars like Adam Sandler (just kidding, although he is expected to show) have started to generate plenty of buzz leading up to the annual event. One movie has fallen from US fill festivals, promised to show in Toronto and now even the film of Aretha Franklin's church performance for the Amazing Grace album has also been shelved in Canada due to the artist's legal objections.
You know you are at tiff if you see a long line of ticket holders

Even now cinemas are cooking up massive amounts of popcorn, spreading sticky substances on the floors of almost 30 theatres and vacuuming the red carpets (or the Hudson Bay striped carpet) as they await the famous feet of so many movie stars. Places like Sassafras, the Thompson Hotel and the Cabana Pool Bar are supposed to be where the stars will hang, everywhere except, supposedly, the Trump Hotel due to the words of the Donald. For many it is the opening night galas and world premiers that draw the happy throngs to the fences that separate Hollywood and the fans. I will be keeping an eye out for SOHO House and Grey Goose sponsored events for the pictures that come out of those parties. People will need to keep drinking in with extreme heat alerts heading into the weekend.
Red velvet ropes will help to keep the lineups civilized

Opening weekend will also be hampered by several other road closures as the Taste of the Kingsway (Bloor ST W from Prince Edward Dr N to Montgomery Rd), the Festival of Praise (several roads), the Cabbagetown Festival (Parliament and Carlton Streets), Bloorcourt Arts and Crafts Fair (more Bloor Street W) and the Bang and Olufsen Yorkville 5k Charity Fun Run and Walk along with the Canadian 5k Road Race Championship (several roads).
