Stockpile at Brookfield Place

A giant claw arcade machine sits smack dab in the middle of @ArtsBrookfield as part of @Luminato Festival 2013. The Stockpile installation is being constructed for the June 14-23 celebration of creativity. You can donate items for use in the oversize arcade machine. Right now the cupboard is bare.
"What happens when nine visual artists from across Canada collaborate on a single installation? Stockpile… an interactive performance spectacle in the heart of Toronto’s financial district. Come one, come all to a life-sized arcade-style claw machine filled with useful objects donated by the community along with special surprises. As the artists themselves become the claw, see if you can manipulate them into delivering the prize you desire while contemplating this carnivalesque exchange of value and examining what winning and losing means to the collective. Participating artists, selected by Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art curator Denise Markonish and Luminato Festival artistic director Jorn Weisbrodt, were part of Markonish's recent MASS MoCA exhibition Oh, Canada. From across Canada, representing a wide spectrum of disciplines and backgrounds, they include Dean Baldwin, Brendan Fernandes, Diane Landry, Divya Mehra, Luanne Martineau, Graeme Patterson, Ed Pien, Charles Stankievech and Mitchell Wiebe."

And here it is in action during the opening day Friday, June 14, 2013.

See more after the jump.
