Toronto Motorama this weekend

The 3rd annual custom car and motorsports expo is on at the International Centre from March 10-12, 2017 with over 300,000 square feet of awesome vehicles and displays. This is a celebration of automobiles with custom cars, hot rods, racing vehicles and tuners and the expo starts early Friday morning and finishs late Sunday afternoon.

Special guests will be Dan Woods from the TV show Chop Cut Rebuild, Steve Darnell and 'Barber' Dave Lefler from the TV show Vegas Rat Rods, Linda Vaughn who gained prominence as the First Lady of motorsports, pin-up model Cherry Dollface and the 'Fastest Woman on Four Wheels' Jessi Combs will also be in attendance.
Race car driver Alex Tagliani will also unveil his new sponsorship in the NASCAR Pinty's Series on Saturday at 11am at the NASCAR booth in Hall 2 and on Sunday DJ Kennington will appear between 1:30 and 3:00pm at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP) booth. DJ drove in the 2017 Daytona 500, the first Canadian to take part in the race in 29 years.

Modified Cars, tuners and imports will take over Hall 4 as a show within a show. Spring Fever 2 will highlight mini and full size trucks that use air suspension in a feature called 'Afraid of Heights'.

12:30 to 2:00 p.m. – Automotive Education and Career Panel: Several members of the automotive education, auto industry and motorsports communities will take part in this discussion about their respective programs / companies / careers and how those interested in a future in one of these areas can get involved. Expected participants include: host Matt Garwood (Georgian College / racer), Wayne Toth (Niagara College), Shawna Woudstra (drag racer), Jessi Combs (MythBusters / Overhaulin’), Dan Woods (Chop Cut Rebuild) and Dom Tucci (Tucci Hot Rods).

5:30 to 7:00 p.m. – Short Track Promoters: A collection of Ontario’s top short track, dirt oval and series promoters will be on hand to participate in a Q&A session with fans and discuss their roles in promoting their tracks and series, as well as motor racing in southern Ontario, in general. Expected participants include: Mark Rinaldi (Brighton Speedway), Gord Bennett (Full Throttle Motor Speedway), Alex Nagy (Jukasa Motor Speedway), Clinton Geoffrey (Ohsweken Speedway), Dave Gainforth (OSCAAR), JP Josiasse (Peterborough Speedway), Jason Thom (Sauble Speedway) and Dallas Hofscheier (Sunset Speedway).


10:30 to 11:15 a.m. – Road Racing Discussion Panel: Several prominent representatives of various parts of the Canadian road racing community discuss their respective news, events, series and racing programs for 2017. Expected participants include: Bruce Leonard (RSO president / racer), Wendy Edwards (ChumpCar Canada), Joe Dowden (Targa Newfoundland), Robert Burgess (Radical Canada) and a representative of CASC-OR.

11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Canadian 10 Unveiling: Hosted by Gary Challice, announcer Rick Seeley and Cherry Dollface, the top ten ‘first time shown’ Canadian cars in contention to win the $5,000 Motorama Grand Prize will be announced on The Johnsonville Stage! You’ve heard of The Great 8… find out who will be among The Canadian 10!

12:00 to 12:45 p.m. – Steve Darnell, ‘Barber’ Dave Lefler and Dan Woods: The star of the hit TV show Vegas Rat Rods and the ultra-creative owner of WelderUp Hot Rods, in Las Vegas, will be on The Johnsonville Stage with co-star ‘Barber’ Dave Lefler as well as Dan Woods of Chop Cut Rebuild and the Degrassi TV shows. Darnell, with cousin ‘Barber’ Dave, will discuss his transition from a humble rancher in Montana to one of hot rodding’s most colourful and popular personalities while Dan Woods will discuss his transition from acting to the automotive world.

12:45 to 1:30 p.m. – Jessi Combs and Linda Vaughn: All Girls Garage, Mythbusters and Overhaulin’ star Jessi Combs – known as the ‘Fastest Woman on Four Wheels’ – will be on stage for a Q&A session. Combs will be joined on stage by fellow trailblazer and ‘First Lady of Motorsports’ Linda Vaughn. For more than 55 years, Vaughn has been adored by fans and has amassed an incredible list of experiences as a true industry insider.

1:30 to 2:15 p.m. – Drag Racing Discussion Panel: Hosted by Bill Richards and the Ultimate Showdown’s Larry Satchell, this on-stage discussion panel will feature several drag racers and industry members, who will touch upon issues related to straight-line racing. Expected participants include: Andrew Stirk (DSE Sportsman Promotions), Neale Armstrong (Toronto Motorsports Park), Tony Valerio (builder / racer), Paul Norris (Ontario Street Outlaws), Steve Hayward (Race Cayuga Sportsman Series) and Mike Bennett (OSCA).

2:15 to 3:00 p.m. – Car Show Promoters Panel: A collection of North America’s top car show promoters will participate in a Q&A discussion about their respective shows. Expected participants include: Pat Cheatley (Northern Showdown), Jim Pearsall (Syracuse Nationals), Bill Doherty (Atlantic Nationals), Joe Haniszewski (Buffalo Motorama), Bob Larivee (founder of Detroit Autorama) and a representative of Oshawa Autofest.

3:00 to 5:00 p.m. – Show Car Class Awards: Hosted by Rick Seeley, Gary Challice and celebrities Dan Woods and Cherry Dollface. With more than 200 vehicles in competition, there are dozens of different classes and categories to be judged. The Class Awards will be announced and presented on The Johnsonville Stage during this session.

5:15 to 6:00 p.m. – Drag Racing Night of Champions Presented by Stoneridge Specialty Insurance: Bill Richards and Larry Satchell return – with a special appearance by Jessi Combs – to host this awards presentation which honours Canadian drag racers who won track or series championships during the 2016 season. Fairchild Race Tires makes its debut as a supporting sponsor.

6:15 to 7:45 p.m. – Short Track Night of Champions Presented by Stoneridge Specialty Insurance: Hosts Greg Calnan and Adam Ross will be joined by Steve Darnell and ‘Barber’ Dave Lefler to honour dirt and asphalt oval track racers who won year-end track or series championships in 2016. Each champion will receive a plaque and will be interviewed about their title-winning campaigns.


10:45 to 11:30 a.m. – APC Late Model Series Driver Panel: The APC Late Model Series features most of the province’s top Late Model racers, competing at tracks around southern and central Ontario. Jamie Maudsley hosts this session featuring series organizer Luke Ramsay and several registered drivers. Expected participants include: Rick Burbridge, Shawn McGLynn, Billy Schwartzenburg, Mat Box, JR Fitzpatrick, Josh Stade, Chris Mitchell and Jaxson Jacobs.

11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Meet the Media: One of the show’s most popular on-stage features. Several members of the Canadian motorsports media discuss issues related to Canadian and international racing. Expected participants include: Erik Tomas (Raceline Radio), James Neilson (Inside Track Motorsport News), Jim Kenzie (Toronto Star), Gary Grant ( and others.

12:45 to 1:30 p.m. – NASCAR Pinty’s Series Driver Q&A: The NASCAR Pinty’s Series is the pinnacle of racing in Canada. Series announcer Adam Ross will host a session featuring several racers to discuss their plans for 2017. Expected participants include two-time series champion Andrew Ranger, multi-time race winner Alex Tagliani, DJ Kennington (who recently took part in the Daytona 500!), and several others.

1:45 to 2:45 p.m. – Hot Rod Panel: Legendary Hot Rod personality and show organizer Gary Challice will be joined by Rick Seeley to host this discussion featuring several prominent members of the hot rod, custom car and classic car communities. Expected to participate on the panel are: Al Bergler (Ridler winner / builder), Jessi Combs (racer / fabricator), Bruce Harvey (featured builder), David Dadd (2016 Grand Champion), Linda Vaughn (marketer), Dan Woods (Chop Cut Rebuild) and Doug O’Brien (Hot Night’s Hot Rods).

3:00 to 5:00 p.m. – Show Car Special Awards: Hosted by Rick Seeley and Gary Challice, and celebrity presenters Dan Woods and Cherry Dollface, dozens of awards will be handed out at the show, including the Motorama Grand Champion and the announcement of the $5,000 winner of the Vintage Insurance Championship Series!

THE AUTOGRAPH & PHOTO BOOTH, adjacent to The Johnsonville Stage, will be busy all weekend long with celebrity autograph and photo sessions.

NASCAR PINTY’S SERIES RACER ALEX TAGLIANI will pull the wraps off his new sponsor when he unveils his car in the NASCAR booth on Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m.

LINDA VAUGHN the First Lady of Motorsports will be signing copies of her new book, throughout the show, in the Inside Track Motorsport News booth (#1305) in Hall 1B.
