Andy Warhol Revisited exhibition coming to Toronto

A Mirror for Today brings a rare look at some of the most famous prints and paintings in the pop artist's extensive catalog of works, curated by the Los-Angeles based Revolver Gallery and showing in Yorkville in the summer.  The Andy Warhol Revisited: A Mirror For Today will be a multi-level and interactive exhibition of over 120 pieces starts July 1, 2015 and runs to the end of the year at 77 Bloor Street West in Toronto. Update: The Andy Warhol portrait of Michael Jackson (pictured below), commissioned by TIME Magazine, which appeared on the magazine's March 19, 1984 cover will be displayed at the show - starting July 20th.

Included in one of the world's largest collections of Warhol pop art is the Marilyn Monroe portrait and the Campbell's Vegetable Soup Can. Revolver plans to upsize their recent Vancouver show, Warhol: A Different Idea of Love, with a monumental exhibition experience in Toronto.

"Being a native of Toronto, the city holds a very special place in my heart. It is an important part of the person I am today, and I feel compelled to give back to Toronto with this exhibition,” said Ron Rivlin, Founder, Revolver Gallery. “I want to share my passion for the importance of Andy Warhol’s work with my fellow Torontonians.”

Works chosen from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Christie's Auction house and many other museum and private collections will be displayed in a chronological order to expose the progression of the artist's style. Using educational materials, mobile apps and audio tours the exhibition will also highlight Andy's his lasting impact on Society as well as provide a window into The Factory where Andy Warhol had his main New York City art studio from the early 60s to the mid 80s.
