Blossoms are out in #Toronto right now - Saturday, May 4, 2013!

Update: Saturday May 4 will see many blooms in High Park while Sunday and Monday are expected to be an optimal time to view the trees.

Update: The green buds are starting to form florets and will soon burst into puffy white flowers. I saw my first blossom at Old City Hall where a bud had bloomed against the window.

As March ends and we head into the Easter long weekend it is time for the annual spring cherry blossom watch. In 2012 the buds started coming out at the start of April, while in 2011 the buds waited until May to appear. So far the reports show no buds or blossoms yet so keep coming by for updates.

Several places have fruit trees that explode in blossoms of white or pink including High Park, University Avenue south of Queen's Park, in Queen's Park, at the U of T Library (that's me last year in the photo at top), in Exhibition Place, beside Old City Hall and at Ryerson University.
