Honda Indy Toronto 2019 next week

With 10 of 17 NTT IndyCar races finished, Josef Newgarden is the points leader coming into the Honda Indy Toronto presented by Green Savoree Racing Promotions. The race weekend starts with free entrance on Honda Fan Friday, courtesy of the Ontario Honda Dealers and voluntary donations from visitors in support of Make-A-Wish Canada. Seating during Honda Fan Friday is on a first come, first served basis - no ticket required.

"Honda Fan Friday will feature a jam-packed schedule of on-track action, Stunt shows, contests, autograph sessions and all kinds of off-track entertainment will be in full gear from gate open to close across the event site, providing something for everyone, race fan or not!" A pancake breakfast ($5 donation) will take place on Fan Friday starting at 8am in the Pinty's Pub & Grill located at the north side of Turn 1.
Running from Thursday, July 12 to Sunday, July 14, 2019 the 12.84km, 11-turn temporary street course runs through Exhibition Place and onto Lake Shore Boulevard West. Festival gate hours are from 8am - 6pm and the ticket booths will be at the Enercare Centre off the Strachan entrance and at the Transit entrance at Manitoba Drive. You can review the track construction progress on my post here. Use public transportation like GO Transit trains (Lakeshore West line to Exhibition Station) and avoid City's traffic congestion and hassles of finding parking: "Just $45 for a single race day combo pass and $70 for a two-day combo pass. Includes a general admission ticket and round trip GO fare.
Getting there is easy - Lakeshore West trains take you right to Exhibition GO Station, just steps away from the #indyTO gates! PLUS, kids 12 and under always ride GO Transit for free and get FREE General Admission with an event-ticketed adult. For more information, visit gotransit.com/indy."

On track racing will be done by NASCAR Pinty's Series stockcars with Saturday's headline race Grand Prix of Toronto, the NTT IndyCar Series open-wheel race cars with Sunday's headline race, as well as the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge sportscars by Yokohama, the Stadium SUPER Trucks and the Road to Indy Presented By Cooper Tires with three ladder series - Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires, Indy Pro 2000 Championship presented by Cooper Tires and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. You can also get tickets to get into the pits where you will see the drivers, cars and teams as they make the final preparations, squeeze the drivers into their cockpits and then some poor guy has to hold an umbrella over the driver to keep the sun off the talent.

NTT IndyCar is the premier race class in North America with Toronto being the only non-American race in the 2019 schedule. NASCAR Pinty's Series race across Canada and has recently included a stop in the United States of America. The Road to Indy follows the IndyCar circuit and is the feeder system to supply drivers to IndyCar while offering some great racing to fans. Stadium SUPER Trucks are just crazy as they race and jump over metal ramps spread along the street course and have made quite an impression on race fans who have asked for the trucks to come back.

“Honda Canada is a tremendous partner of this annual summer festival, and the interactive exhibits that it brings to the event are exceptional. We are especially thrilled with the impact Honda Fan Friday continues to have on our community and Make-A-Wish Canada,” said Jeff Atkinson, Honda Indy Toronto President. “Every donation made by festival-goers at the Honda Indy Toronto is matched dollar for dollar by the Honda Canada Foundation. We encourage everyone to get involved in this worthy cause whether attending in person or not.”

Title sponsor of the event says “We’re honoured to support the Honda Indy Toronto for the eleventh year, as the premier sporting event brings the excitement of racing to the streets of Toronto,” says Jean Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc. “Racing is in Honda’s DNA and we’re extremely proud to share that heritage as we drive race fan’s adrenalin to the redline throughout race weekend, both on and off the track.”

Off track activities will include the series paddocks (temporary garage areas), Honda World, Honda SpeedZone, the Honda Junior Red Riders and Thunder Alley with vendors, promotions, food trucks and other attractions and entertainment. Paddocks give you the chance to see the cars, the teams and the drivers as they prepare for the track. Series drivers are also assembled together for driver meet and greets as well as autographs at various times throughout the weekend (check out the schedule at the bottom of this post).

Honda World will feature interactive exhibits, skill testing virtual reality racing, a chance to win a unique prize. A replica of James Hinchcliffe's #5 IndyCar will be be on display. Honda cars, motorcycles and power equipment will be showcased. In Thunder Alley you can find the Honda SpeedZone, the food zone at the Truck Stop area and the Miller Lite Deck

In the Honda SpeedZone "fans can refuel with free popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones for all, compliments of Honda Canada. Seating areas allow families to take a break and cool off in the Honda “Fan Zone” misting tent. The Honda Winner’s Circle features a podium to accept a championship trophy as a photo opportunity to remember the weekend. Children under five years old can participate in the Strider’s balance bike activity. Kids and adults alike can test their batting skills at the baseball virtual reality activation."
