Canadians join the world on the first Saturday in April for International Pillow Fight Day. This is the soft hit as thousands of pillows come slamming down in a battle royale Saturday, April 2, 2022. The picture at top is from the 2017 Pillow Fight.
Toronto's battle will be back at Nathan Phillips Square at City Hall. Crowds will gather with their own soft pillows beginning at 2pm, then the fun begins at 3pm. Don't try to hurt anyone and don't attach those without pillows - remember this is supposed to be a cure to what ails you, not put someone in the hospital. And if you wear glasses this will be the time to take them off and put on a cool costume.
From the Facebook event site, "A pillow warrior lives inside each of us, and it's time to let him out for battle! Thousands of pillow warriors gather in city squares to fight each other and have a great time—this is how the world celebrates international pillow fight day. This weird but funny tradition is now believed to be over a hundred years old. Mass pillow fights take place in over a hundred cities across the world, and Toronto hosts one of the greatest. It takes place in Nathan Philips Square in front of city hall. We will meet between 2pm and 3pm. Once 3pm strikes, the pillow fight commences, and the battle continues for 1.5 hours (not 3... my pillow can't take it that long). Only light featherless pillows are officially allowed, but they're always a couple of rule-breakers, so be careful."
