Empty ice on the world's largest skating rink

Dramatic temperature changes and rain in the nation's capital closed off the Rideau Canal's 7.8km skating rink over the past weekend and it was a little eerie seeing the canal empty of skaters. The extreme cold that followed helped to get the ice back into shape and it opened again on Wednesday. Surface conditions are rated as Fair and you can check the conditions daily on the interactive map.
