Torontonians love to leave the city to go to the cottage, visit nature (especially at Fall) and to pick some apples at GTA orchards. Besides fruit picking you can usually go for a tractor ride, stop and smell the flowers, meet and feed the animals and buy some fine pies.
Some of the more popular sites are Chudleigh's in Milton but there are others such as Milton's Andrews' Scenic Acres and Whitby's Algoma Orchards. Google an orchard close to your location and have a nice family day. Here are some pictures from Andrews'.
