Uodate: May 2, 2025. This is it baby, peak blossom weekend is here. Everywhere I went today the cherry blossoms are popping and crowds are gathering. This weekend will be full of blossom enthusiasts so plan accordingly. I think the easiest place to park and see the blossoms is in Exhibition Place, otherwise bike around and see them all.
Update: April 24, 2025. The cherry buds are still elongating and some of the white petals are appearing. Peak blossoms should still be in the timeline noted below, however peak weekend blossoms will probably be on the May 3-4. Remember both pedestrian traffic and vehicular traffic around the blossoms will be immense for the High Park blossoms, also High Park will be closed to cars during the weekends for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

The world we know is starting to shrug off its winter slumber and awaken with trees and flowers are starting to grow. On April 20, 2025 I checked out the cherry trees in Exhibition Place around the Princess Margaret fountain in Exhibition Place and along the pathway in Trinity Bellwoods Place - two of the most primo spots for viewing beautiful cherry blossoms, besides High Park, and the little green buds are coming out to play.
In Trinity Bellwoods
The development of Cherry blossoms runs from green round buds, to visible florets, then extension, elongation and the growth of white petals and finally peak bloom. We are currently in stage 3 as the buds have begun to swell and the little florets are peaking out.
The always educational and enjoyable Sakura Cherry Blossom Watch in High Park currently has this to say about the prediction for peak blossoms:
"Even though Mother Nature is always unpredictable and can change her mind, specific trends and patterns can still be observed over a long period. Since I started this blog, I’ve noticed that the regular bloom time for High Park is usually around late April to early May, when winter has been substantial enough and spring hasn’t been too warm. 2025 appears to be one of those years, and if the forecast for the rest of April continues on the warmer trends, then the bloom should occur within the regular time frame.
I predict the trees will bloom in High Park between April 29 and May 9. Of course, any changes in the weather, like heatwaves or cold spells, may change the dates, but so far, we seem to be headed for a peak bloom into the first weekend of May."
