Target Opens in #Toronto

Target stores in East York Town Centre and the Centrepoint Mall will open Tuesday, March 19, 2013 as part of the soft launch of an additional 21 stores in Ontario. So far only three pilot stores located in Guelph, Milton and Fergus have been open to the public. The 17 new locations will open on the 19th with 4 more opening March 28, including one more in Toronto at Shoppers World Danforth. The photo at top shows me at the wheel of the new target shopping carts - they really expect high average buggy sales and their wide aisles make it easy to do some racing (photo by Joe Fresh). Anyone remember last summer's Bullseye Beach?

The launch is to test volume and work out the kinks ahead of the grand opening planned for April. The U.S. based chain has plans to have 124 stores in Canada in 2013.

“Welcoming the first Canadian guests at our pilot stores was a great moment for all team members at Target,” said Tony Fisher, president, Target Canada. “We have learned quickly from the results of our pilot stores and are committed to delivering on Target’s Expect More. Pay Less. brand promise as we approach our grand opening in early April.”
