TIFF 2012 is coming

Celebrities are warming up the jets for the #Toronto International Film Festival @TIFF_net as the announcements are made for the 2012 festival galas and presentations. Lineups and crowds will be some of the fun activities awaiting fans, so be ready for a wait behind a red velvet rope (official TIFF ropes in the photo above - a star might have touched the actual ropes).

TIFF will open with the world premiere gala presentation of 'Looper', a time travelling action thriller by filmmaker Rian Johnson and featuring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

"This is a new kind of Opening Night: an exciting, thinking-person’s action film from a director who really understands genre.” In TriStar Pictures, FilmDistrict, and Endgame Entertainment’s Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good... until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe's future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination."

The festival runs September 6-16, 2012 and is billed as second to the CFF (Cannes Film Festival), but way ahead of MUFF (I can't remember what film festival this is, I think it is in the southern hemisphere). The much awaited event will have an astounding 38 World Premiers.

After TIFF the place is going to be overrun by British secret agent James Bond accouterments as part of 'Designing 007 Fifty Years of Bond Style' - October 26, 2012 to January 20, 2013 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
