Tall Ship Armada in #Toronto Harbour

A fleet of Tall Ships will gather tonight in Toronto’s harbour at HTO Park on Friday July 13, 2012 prior to heading out under sail for the weekend Navy of 1812: Sailors on the Lakes battles at Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The Toronto Brigantine group – Pathfinder and Playfair, will be joined by naval vessels St Lawrence II, Faire Jeanne (the flagship), La Revenante and Caledonian as they meet around 7pm for a Conference of Captains. A Jetty Jollification (whatever that is) will also be held in conjunction with the preparations so it is a good time to head down to the shores of Lake Ontario to see the ships. Crews will be dressed in 1812 period costumes and ships will hoist 1812 colours as they begin the event which commemorates the role of sailors in the War of 1812.
Captain Neale, above, of the Toronto Brigantine has been named Vice Commodore of the Squadron. If you have a boat down in the harbour I hope you don’t get boarded or sunk. The ships leave pre-dawn as they cruise the  52 km to Niagara-on-the-Lake in time for Saturday's battle.

See more of the navy after the jump.

See you at the battle!
