NCTS Scott Steckly and Canadian Tire in 2012

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCTS) stock car racing began 2012 at Mosport, now named the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Canadian Tire announced that they are continuing their sponsorship of 2011 series champion Scott Steckly - with Scott currently sitting in fourth place in the overall standings as of the 4th race of the season. The next race is July 14 at the Motoplex Speedway and Event Park with the A&W Cruisin' The Dub 300.
Scott is the current reigning champion having won the 2011 NCTS title (his second) and drives the Dodge Canadian Tire #22 car. If that seems like a lot of Canadian Tires it just highlights the importance of the giant automotive, financial services, sporting good and general retailer in the Canadian racing scene. Scott will wear the iconic red Canadian Tire Triangle with the green maple leaf on his uniform and his car for the fourth consecutive year.

“I’m grateful for the support I’ve received from Canadian Tire and their continued support of motorsports in Canada,” said #22 driver, Scott Steckly. “I am honoured to be part of such an incredible team and looking forward to another fantastic year on the track in 2012.”
Scott has a lot of competition with past Champions DJ Kennington (now leading the series), Andrew Ranger (number 2) and JR Fitzpatrick rounding out the top three. In the June 23, 2012 race at Deleware Scott finished second to DJ.
Canadian Tire, founded in 1922 and now with over 1,700 retail and gas outlets across Canada, works hard to help grow Motorsports in Canada and have joined in a partnership with Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario which has now been branded the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

“A passion for racing is part of our DNA at Canadian Tire,” said Allan MacDonald, Senior Vice-President of Automotive, Canadian Tire. “Through the outstanding talent we continue to see on the track and the support of the fans, we’re thrilled to see how motorsport continues to grow year after year in Canada. As we head into the race season, we couldn’t be happier to announce that returning champion, Scott Steckly will once again be part of our team.”
