Happy Mardi Gras

#Toronto has Carnival in summer but we do not celebrate Mardi Gras New Orleans style - with beads and boobs. The festival is something that would bring a big city out of it's winter doldrums (which I admit haven't been very doldrummy because of the unseasonable, warm weather we have been having). I imagine that Mardi Gras is the adult version of Toronto's own Buskerfest (like the face painting photo shown at top).
Our celebration, called the Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival Toronto, runs July 10 - Aug 6, 2012 with the Grand Parade on Aug 4. We also have a Mardi Gras lite everyday during the CNE, starting 6pm at the Princes' Gates. The parade comes complete with thousands of necklaces thrown to the crowds.
